Books I Read • September 2025
I wrote more than I read in September. I did squeeze in three chunky books (2,092 pages total) between writing sessions: two action-packed entries in the Sins of the Zodiac series and a Fourth Wing clone with direwolves.
I hardly made it through three books in September because I spent all my time writing. The kids went back to school right after Labor Day, which freed up an incredible amount of time. I wrote over 100,000 words in September, about 70,000 of which I kept in the manuscript (lots of editing happened too). It's actually wild how much I did.
So what books did I squeeze in between writing sessions? Big ones. I read 2,092 pages across three books. I would call them all ok.
“Never Keep” by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Alenti (Sins of the Zodiac #1) ★★★★
Devoured 740 pages in a few days, typos and all. Dual female POVs are badass. Actual enemies-to-lovers. Action-dense and full of personality. Brutal cliffhanger twists, no happy endings here.“Echo Fort” by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Alenti ★★★★
Messier than Never Keep. Some characters wander. Some new POVs suck. Still packed with heart and personality and action. That cliffhanger will trick me into reading book 3, so what can I say?“Dire Bound” by Sable Sorensen (The Wolves of Ruin #1) ★★★
Find-and-replace Fourth Wing clone with direwolves. Annoying FMC, annoying boyfriend, obvious and over-explained plot twists. Still finished in a few days and will read sequel when it's out and I need a mindless break.
